International Policy Advocacy
Continued critical engagement with the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) through the International Planning Committee (IPC) and challenging this UN body for its corporate agenda and anti-people policy recommendations continues to be a key objective for PAN AP. The Programme maintains its lead role in Asia and facilitates the inclusion of more people's organisations in the process so their voices and positions are visible and recognised.
In addition, the FAO is in the middle of negotiations to ensure that its Committee on Food Security (CFS) is the overall body responsible for global governance of food and agriculture. PAN AP is part of the global IPC that is now monitoring and participating in these discussions.
Aside from the UNFCCC and FAO, PAN AP is also actively participating in the Asia-Pacific Preparatory Group for the upcoming Rio+20 (Earth Summit) which will happen in 2012.
